dotDK announces additional support from Danish Internet community

Copenhagen – September 22, 2008 - The dotDK society, the Danish not for profit organization that was selected in June as the winner of the Tender to administer the .dk domain, today announced that it has submitted additional letters of support to the National IT and Telecom Agency.

Together, dotDK has submitted letters that represent the support of many organizations and hundreds of thousands of members of the Danish Internet community, exceeding the Tender’s stated criteria of 4 letters representing the public, private and professional segments of the community as defined in the Domain Act. Shortly, dotDK will open membership to the public to enable individuals and organizations to join online at http://www.dotdkregistry.dk.

“The support that dotDK documented and provided to the Agency in August exceeded the final requirements of the tender process,” said Kim V. Andersen, one of the Danish founders of the dotDK Society. “Since then, however, additional individuals and organizations have come forward with statements of support and asked to be included. To honor their commitments, today we are providing these to the Agency.”

A final decision is expected by September 27, 2009, as announced in the Tender Documents (page 16). In the meantime, dotDK is working with its technical partner to plan for the migration of registry services for the domain in February 2009, per the Tender timetable. dotDK will deliver improved security, reliability, and efficiency as well as broader representation to the administration of the .dk domain.
